Child Visa
What are the requirements for obtaining an Australian Child Visa?
Eligible Sponsor: The child must have a sponsor who is an eligible parent, guardian, or relative. The sponsor must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen.
Relationship: The child must be the child (natural, adopted, or stepchild) of the sponsoring parent, guardian, or relative. There are different subclasses of Child Visas that may have specific requirements, so you should choose the one that matches your situation.
Age: The child's age may affect the specific subclass of Child Visa they can apply for. There are visas available for dependent children under 18 years old as well as options for dependent children over 18 but still financially dependent on the sponsoring parent.
Health and Character Requirements: Both the child and the sponsoring parent must meet health and character requirements. This may include providing police certificates and undergoing health examinations.
Financial Support: The sponsoring parent must be able to demonstrate their ability to provide adequate financial support for the child during their stay in Australia.

Consent of Non-Migrating Parent: If the child is under 18 years of age and has a non-migrating parent, the consent of that parent is typically required. This ensures that the child can leave their home country in compliance with the laws of that country.
Visa Application: Depending on the specific circumstances, the child can apply for various subclasses of Child Visas, such as Child (Subclass 101), Orphan Relative (Subclass 837), Adoption (Subclass 102), and more. Each subclass may have slightly different requirements.
Duration of Visa: The Child Visa may be temporary or permanent, depending on the specific subclass applied for.
Waiting Periods: Some Child Visa subclasses may have waiting periods, and the processing time can vary.
Health Insurance: Depending on the subclass, the child may be required to maintain adequate health insurance while in Australia.

PARENT Visa
What are the eligibility requirements for obtaining a Parent Visa in Australia?
Sponsorship: An eligible child in Australia must sponsor their parent for this visa. The sponsor must be a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen.
Balance of Family Test: The parents must pass the Balance of Family Test. This means that at least half of their children should be settled in Australia as Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens.
Age: There are no age limits for parents applying for this visa.
Health and Character Requirements: Both the parent and sponsor must meet health and character requirements. This may include providing police certificates and undergoing health examinations.
Assurance of Support: The sponsor is typically required to provide an Assurance of Support. This is a legal commitment to provide financial support to the parent(s) if necessary, to ensure they do not rely on government assistance.

Waiting Periods: There may be significant waiting periods for this visa category due to high demand. Parents may need to wait for a considerable amount of time before their visa is granted.
Visa Application: Parents should apply for the Contributory Parent visa, which includes the Contributory Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 173) and the Contributory Parent (Permanent) visa (subclass 143). This visa type requires a substantial application fee.
Parent Visa Options: There are different parent visa options, including contributory and non-contributory visas. Contributory visas require higher fees but generally have shorter waiting times.
Financial Capacity: Depending on the type of parent visa, there may be financial requirements, including paying a substantial visa application charge.
Meet Australian Health Cover Requirements: Parents applying for the Contributory Parent visa (subclass 173) and (subclass 143) are generally required to maintain adequate health insurance while in Australia.

The Parent Visa offers a solution for parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to attain permanent residency and build a lasting presence in the country.
