Visa Application Charges to rise – as part of the 2017-18 Budget, the Australian Government announced a number of changes to existing Visa Application Charges (VACs). From 1 July 2017 all current VACs payable to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) will be indexed annually in line with the forecast Consumer Price Index (CPI) and rounded to the nearest $5.
The indexation only applies to the 1st instalment component of the VAC, and does not apply to 2nd instalment VACs. The indexation of 1st instalment VACs will apply to both primary and secondary applicants.
